Legacy System Simplified

The goal of this project was to simplify the information architecture to better fit the needs of our customers in reducing the number of clicks to access information. A visual update was also necessary to comply with our corporate branding standards.

Problem

With many years of adding features, enhancements, and additional sections, the legacy system's information architecture became unpredictable and inconsistent, making it more and more difficult to quickly find information.

Solution

In order to simplify the site structure, I worked closely with product management to see how we can combine sections, eliminate clicks, and to come up with a hierarchy that would make sense to users.

We were able to eliminate an entire layer while creating a simple and consistent hierarchy of four main sections with no more than three clicks deep to find information.
